Women’s Cross Country Places 5th at Baltimore Metro Meet

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (Sept. 3, 2010)-The Morgan State women's cross country team opened up their 2010 season Friday evening in the 28th annual Baltimore Metro Cross Country Meet hosted by Towson University at Oregon Ridge Park.

Morgan State finished fifth overall out of eight teams with 167 points and was second amongst the Division I schools behind Towson, which placed second overall with 32 points. Division III Johns Hopkins, which placed four runners in the top five, captured its third consecutive title, finishing with 23 points. Cecilia Furlong of John's Hopkins was the top finisher, completing the course in a time of 18:11.73. McDaniel College placed third with 97 points and Goucher took fourth with 98 points.

The Lady Bears' Danielle Calhoun was the first Morgan State runner to cross the finish line, finishing the race in a time of 23:34.49 for 53rd-place, followed by Dieynaba Diagne in a time of 23:39.44 for 54th.

The Lady Bears return to action next Saturday, Sept. 11, when they take part in the Delaware State Invitational in Dover, Del.
