MEAC Teleconference - Donald Hill-Eley - Week 5

QUESTION … Can you talk about the matchup against Western Kentucky?

DONALD HILL-ELEY – “We thought we were going to Western Kentucky, but we ended up at the Kentucky Derby -- plenty of horses - plenty horses. They are a very talented team across the board and we can see how they won their conference last year. They have a great offense, defense, special teams.  That’s an FBS team that beat Kentucky out of the shoot and they were coming off a loss from South Alabama and it was their first time playing at home and they just got the breaks ... They were able to move the ball on our defensive side and score -- we couldn’t match the pace.“

Q – “Well coach you guys have used three different quarterbacks to start the season throughout the entire nonconference action, now that you’re heading into conference play how does the game plan change at the position or does it change moving forward?

H – “Well it’s one of those deals where you want to play the guy that’s moving the offense…  and right now you’re in conference play, so as you get into these FBS games, we have a chance to play two. Also by playing Liberty, a pursuing team, you’re in a situation where you get to play against a bunch of different talent and some guys were moving the offense better than others -- some showed ability when it came to running the ball better than others. You shape your team through these first couple of games and now you just start hanging your hats on guys and being committed to them and trying to build an offense around that particular guy. Coming out of it seeing all three of them play, I know we have great depth and we have great leadership regardless of whichever one we put in. ”

– Looking ahead this week you face Norfolk State in your first conference action of the season, what is the outlook of the matchup?

H – “Well its two teams that had tough out of conference schedules, neither team was fortunate enough to have a victory and its two teams that are hungry to win. You’re going to see a very hard fought contest. Coach [Pete] Adrian is doing a good job with his team in all phases.  Those guys are really playing good sound football. You’re just going to see two teams that are really hungry to get a win and really hungry to move forward in conference play with everything that’s done to this point. The quest for the MEAC starts this week. This is the first time we’re having a MEAC contest and I’m quite sure he’s going to have his guys ready to play, and all of our guys ready to play as well.”
