SMYRNA, Del. (Oct. 8, 2017)-The Morgan State women's cross country team returned to the race course on Saturday afternoon after a week layoff and claimed the DSU Pre-Conference Invite, hosted by Delaware State University.
 
The Lady Bears won the 5K event held at the DSU Outreach & Research Center with 50 points. Maryland Eastern Shore placed second with 55 points and Howard came in third with 56 points. Host Delaware State (77 points) finished fourth, while Coppin State (143) and the District of Columbia (151) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
 
Morgan State was led by Infinnatie Rowe (20:23.20) and Karen Escobedo (20:51.20), who placed fifth and seventh, respectively. Rachel Bauer would finish 11^th in a time of 21:35.10 and Ashley Souffrant (22:00.70) placed 12^th. Alexis Baynes also finished in the top-15, running the course in a time of 23:01.10 to place 15^th.
 
Sharon Jerop of Maryland Eastern Shore won the individual title in a time of 19:35.80.
 
The Lady Bears return to Smyrna, Del. next Friday, Oct. 13 to take part in the DSU Alumni Run.
