Lady Bears open 2013-14 season at home against Lincoln-Pa. on Nov. 15, 2013.
BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 2, 2013)-The Morgan State women's basketball team will open its 2013-14 campaign against Division II Lincoln-Pa. on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at Hill Field House.
The game will mark the second consecutive season opener at home for the Lady Bears, who last year defeated the University of Maryland Baltimore County, 72-61 in the season-opener.
The contest will be the seventh meeting between the Lady Bears and Lady Lions with Morgan State holding a 6-0 all-time advantage. The two teams last met during the 1986-87 season with Morgan State earning a 70-57 victory.
Lincoln, a historically black college located in Lincoln University, Pa., is coached by Jessica Kern, who enters her third year at the helm. Kern, who has a 17-40 career record in two seasons with the Lady Lions, guided the team to a 10-18 record during the 2012-13 campaign. The Lady Lions also went 5-11 overall in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and finished fourth in the CIAA North Division.
The Lady Lions made history last season during the CIAA Tournament when they defeated Johnson C. Smith, 50-46 during the opening round. With the win, Lincoln became the first Lady Lions team to advance past the first round in the program's three seasons as a member of the CIAA.
