Bears Report Wednesday; Practice Friday

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Morgan State football team, under the direction of 12th year head coach Donald Hill-Eley, will report to campus on Wednesday (July 31) with the first preseason practice slated for Friday (Aug. 2) morning.

"We're excited to get started," said standout cornerback Joe Rankin, one of 14 seniors on the 2013 roster.  "The entire team has worked hard all summer long to prepare, and I felt a big push from our underclassmen. We've definitely made the days count, instead of counting down the days."

Rankin, a 2012 All-MEAC selection, ranked tied in the MEAC with 5 interceptions (T-1st), 11 pass deflections (T-4th) to go along with 46 tackles and blocked a field goal last season.

"We're ready to have a great camp. Now it's time to fine tune and put all the pieces of this puzzle together."

Morgan State returns 62 lettermen and 18 starters from a year ago, and the final preseason scrimmage is slated for Thursday, August 22 at 7 p.m. in Hughes Stadium.  The 2013 campaign will mark the 115th season in Morgan State football history.

The Bears open the season on the road against the Army Black Knights on August 30 at 7 p.m., and season tickets are available online at www.morganstatebears.com/tickets or by calling the MSU Ticket Office at 443-885-1522.
