HAMPTON, Va. (Jan. 30, 2012) - Morgan State, winners of a season-long three straight, concludes its road swing through the Tidewater area of Virginia when it takes on Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Monday, Jan. 30th at the HU Convocation Center. The game will air live at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU. Morgan State is 2-1 over the past three seasons in the MEAC's ESPNU games. The last time the Lady Bears and Hampton met on ESPNU was on Jan. 11, 2010 a 74-37 win for the Lady Pirates in Hampton.
 
BEAR CLAWS: Morgan State (6-14, 3-4 MEAC), is coming off a 75-68 victory on Saturday at  Norfolk State. Omara Parker came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points, while Chyress Lockhart and DeKeisha Mathis added 16 and 15 points, respectively. Moneshia Davis added 13 points and Amarah Williams had a team-high eight rebounds in the win. Morgan State has been paced by its seniors, DeKeisha Mathis (13.0 points) and Parker (11.9 points). Freshman Tracey Carrington is totaling 8.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while fellow freshman Williams has a team-leading 6.0 rebounds to go with her 7.2 points per outing.
 
PIRATES LOG: Hampton (15-4, 7-1 MEAC) enters the contest coming off a 69-66 overtime loss to visiting State on Saturday, which ended its six-game winning streak. Choicetta McMillian scored a game-high 25 points, while Jericka Jenkins scored 17 points. Melanie Warner finished with 10 points and had a game-high 21 rebounds. The Lady Pirates have been paced by McMillian, who is averaging 14.9 points per contest, while Jenkins is adding 14.4 points per a game and a team-leading 7.7 assists per game. Warner is averaging 9.4 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per outing.  
 
MORGAN VS. HAMPTON SERIES NOTES: The Lady Bears trail Hampton in the all-time series, 21-11. The Lady Pirates defeated Morgan State, 83-51 earlier this season in Baltimore (1/16).
 
NEXT UP: Following Monday's game against Hampton, the Lady Bears will return home for their second and final four-game homestand of the season. Morgan State will begin it against cross-town rival Coppin State on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at Hill Field House.
 
DAVIS CLOSING IN ON 100: Junior Moneshia Davis recorded three steals in Saturday's win over Norfolk State, giving her 99 for her career. Davis, who last season tallied a career-high 10 steals in a win over Northwestern State, is now one shy of reaching 100 steals for her career. Davis is also 21 steals away from tying former Lady Bear Tracy Lewis (120 steals from 1989-93) for 10th all-time at Morgan State.
 
PLAYING ON THE 'U': The Lady Bears will make their 2011-12 television appearance as part of the MEAC ESPNU regular season TV schedule on Jan. 30, 2012 when they visit defending MEAC Tournament champion Hampton. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center in Hampton, Va. This will be the fourth consecutive season that Morgan State has been part of the league's television schedule with the Lady Bears holding a 2-1 record and all games being played on the road. Last season the Lady Bears defeated host North Carolina A&T, 74-69 to clinch the No. 2 seed for the league tournament. A year  prior Morgan State was dealt a 37-74 loss at Hampton (1/11/10). Morgan State's first ESPNU game was on Feb. 23, 2009 and the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Pirates, 90-87 in overtime. Morgan State is 2-1 when playing on ESPNU.
 
MATHIS, MSU SECOND IN MADE 3-POINTERS: Senior DeKeisha Mathis by far is having her best season at Morgan State. The St. Louis, Mo., native has connected on 73 three-pointers for her career heading into Monday's game at Hampton with 53 of them coming this season. Her 53 three-pointers ranks second in the MEAC behind Hampton's Choicetta McMillian, who has 60. As a team the Lady Bears also rank second behind Hampton in three-pointers made with 132, while the Lady Pirates have made 141 from beyond the arc.
 
BEASLEY ONE SHY OF 100 WINS: Seventh-year Morgan State head coach Donald Beasley is one win shy of reaching the 100-wins plateau, after Morgan State defeated Norfolk State, 75-68 on Jan. 28, 2012. Last season he moved into second-place on the school's all-time career coaching victories list, after guiding the Lady Bears to a 51-44 victory over Delaware State. The victory was his 86th win, surpassing Anderson Powell (85-179 from 1986-94). Beasley, who has a career mark of 99-103, recorded his 80th career win, following a 53-48 victory over Northwestern State (11/27). LaRue Fields (122-60 from 1979-85) is the school's all-time leader.
