BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan State has announced the 2010 football schedule, a slate highlighted by five home games, including a season-opener vs. Bowie State on Labor Day at Hughes Stadium, as well as a first-time matchup against the Maryland Terrapins.
Morgan State will play four road game, including one of its home games within the confines of Giants Stadium for the New York Urban League Classic in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Bears, who are scheduled to return 57 letterwinners, including 17 offensive and defensive starters, and five special teamers, will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 against the Bulldogs of Bowie State at Hughes Stadium.
Morgan State will travel to College Park for a 6 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 11th against the Maryland Terps. The contest will mark the first matchup between the two teams in football. The Bears will have a week to tune-up before they kick off league play against the Howard Bison in Giants Stadium for the New York Urban League Classic on Sept. 25.
Following the match-up in East Rutherford (NJ), the Bears will host Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 2, and head south to meet North Carolina A&T on Oct. 9. Maryland kicks off its league schedule on Oct. 2 when Duke visits Byrd for the first time since 2003.
The Bears will need the open date (Oct. 18) to prepare for a tough five-game stretch, which includes a Homecoming matchup against Delaware State on Oct. 23. Morgan State will take to the road for games against Florida A&M (Oct. 30) and Norfolk State (Nov. 8).
The Bears play the Bulldogs, the defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Champions, on Nov. 13 defending, before capping the regular season at home against the Hampton Pirates (Nov. 20).
