BALTIMORE, Md. – Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and Indianapolis Colts running back Chad Simpson have put together a fantastic season for their teams.

The former Morgan State standouts have helped lead their respective teams to this weekend's AFC and NFC conference championship games, and are just one game shy of competing in the world famous Super Bowl.

“It’s a proud moment for our football program,” said Morgan State head coach Donald Hill-Eley. “It’s an honor for us to watch our men of Blue and Orange perform in the top games of their conference.”
“We are excited and anticipating a representation of Morgan State in the Super Bowl.”
Shiancoe, a seven year veteran, has put up solid numbers as the Vikings improved to 13-4 with a win last week against the Dallas Cowboys. Shiancoe has recorded 56 receptions for 566 yards (10.1 avg) and has been the recipient of 11 Brett Favre touchdown passes.
Simpson is in his second season with the Colts and is the team’s leading kickoff return specialist and is averaging 23.6 yards per return, including a 93 yard return for a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 17. Simpson, the 2007 MEAC Player of the Year, has also carried the ball 15 times for 102 yards (6.8 avg) and rushed for two touchdowns. The Colts finished the regular season 14-1, and beat the Baltimore Ravens to advance to the AFC Title game.
The Colts will host the New York Jets on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ET), while the Vikings will face the New Orleans Saints in the Super Dome at 6:40 p.m (ET).
