Five Bears to play in postseason football all-star game

BALTIMORE, Md. -- George Howard headlines a list of five seniors from the 2009 Morgan State football team who will participate in the Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl. The game will be held at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama at 2:00 p.m and will be broadcast nationally on CBS College Sports.
Howard, a Chesapeake (Va.) product, was one of the premier linebackers in the nation and was selected as the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Year. The Hitman” earned the MEAC’s Defensive Player of the Week three times this season and completed his career ranked No. 4 in the FCS with 130 tackles, including 73 solo and 57 assisted.
Howard will be joined by four fellow Bear seniors – DL Justin Lawrence (All-MEAC 1st Team; Jetersville, Va.), RB Devan James (All-MEAC 2nd Team; Pompano Beach, Fla.), CB Jody Ellis (All-MEAC 2nd Team; Evansboro, Ill.) and OL Robert Norris (All-MEAC 2nd Team; Cheltenham, Md.)
In addition to the game on December 19, the players will take part in a series of tests and workouts for scouts from the NFL, CFL, UFL, and Arena League 2.
The five Bears will be part of an East Team comprised of players from the FCS Division I MEAC and Division II’s Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). They will face a West Team comprised of athletes from the NCAA Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and the FCS Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
