Morgan State to Host Coppin State in DiG PiNK Volleyball Match

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 15, 2009)-The Morgan State Lady Bears volleyball team will host Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and crosstown rival Coppin State on Friday, October 16, in its inaugural “DiG PiNK” match for breast cancer awareness. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at Hill Field House.

During the DiG PiNK National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally high school and college teams will be promoting breast health education in the community as well as raising funds to help eradicate breast cancer.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink and come out to Hill Field House on the campus of Morgan State University to support the Lady Bears in their effort to raise breast cancer awareness.

Morgan State (5-17, 0-2 MEAC) enters the contest looking to end a seven-match losing skid, following its 3-0 loss at George Washington on Wednesday. The loss marked the 15th time this season that Morgan State had been swept.

Coppin State (1-21, 0-2 MEAC), which ended a 61-match losing streak last week with a five-set victory at North Carolina Central (10/6), enters the contest with a two-match losing streak and is coming off a 3-1 home loss to Hampton on Sunday. The Eagles, who have lost 22 consecutive MEAC matches, haven't won a conference match since defeating Delaware State in four games on November 10, 2006.

Morgan State leads the all-time series against Coppin State, 47-3 and has won the last 42 meetings in a row over the Eagles.
