Lady Bears Place 3rd At TU Invitational; Barham Wins Gold In Four Events

TOWSON, Md. (April 15, 2018)-The Morgan State women's track and field team had a successful weekend, as they place third with 124 points at the TU Invitational on Saturday at Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University.

Host Towson won the team title with 189 points, while Delaware placed second with 163 points. Fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rivals Delaware State (39 points) and Maryland Eastern Shore (35 points) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Lady Bears finished the day claiming four first-place finishes with junior Annastacia Barham associated with all of them.

A native of Manchester, Jamaica, Barham individually claimed gold in the 400 meter dash with a person-best time of 54.57 and also won the 200 meter dash in a time of 24.07. Her other two gold finishes would come by way of the relays. Barham would team up with Kevena Jones, Brittany Meads and Naomi Brown to run 46.49 to win the 4X100 meter relay. She then partnered with Infinnatie Rowe, Brittany Meads and Valencia McDowell to help the squad capture gold in the 4X400 meter relay in a time of 3:43.09.

Other top performances came from Brittany Meads, who placed second in both the 400 meter dash (55.27) and in the 200 meter dash (24.64).

Infinnatie Rowe placed third in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:12.59, while Daijah Davis-Hines ran a time of 1:03.12 to finish third in the 400 meter hurdles.

Kevena Jones placed third in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in a time of 24.67, behind fellow Lady Bears' Barham and Meads, respectively.

In the field events, Jasmyn Hall placed second in the shot put with a throw of 44-00.00 and finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 132-04.

Alantra Mines placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 37-05.00, while Rochelle Johnson also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 18-05.00.

Nikelene McLean would have a throw of 144-04 to place fourth in the hammer throw.

The Lady Bears return to action next week when they travel to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational (April 20-21).
