Women's Tennis Defeats Norfolk State, 6-1

Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (April 15, 2018)-The Lady Bears dominated against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent Norfolk State on Sunday, defeating the host Spartans in a MEAC Northern Division match, 6-1 at the Virginia Beach Tennis & Country Club.

Morgan State (8-12, 4-1 MEAC) got a head start as it captured the doubles point through wins at number three and number one doubles.

Senior Danielle Thompson once again led the way in singles, giving the Lady Bears a 2-0 lead as she closed out her match at the number one rubber, winning 6-3, 6-3.

Sophomore Dana Santiago got Morgan State one step closer to victory by winning in straight sets at number four singles, 6-4, 6-2. Junior Oriane Yehouenou then clinched the match for the Lady Bears without dropping a game at number five singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.

On the third and sixth positions, sophomore Peggy Rooke and freshman Asmara Faluke also got straight set wins, making the overall score 6-1 for Morgan State.
