Hylton Wins Long Jump Title to Lead Bears at Pepsi Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Senior Lloyd Hylton led the way for the Morgan State men's track and field team with his long jump title at the Pepsi Florida Relays this weekend hosted by the University of Florida.

Hylton was the lone Bear to capture an event in the prestigious meet, as he recorded a leap of 7.65m (25-01.25) at Percy Beard Track. The jump also currently ranks 21st in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List.

Hylton's previous outdoor best was 7.28m (23-10.75), he achieved March 23 at the Weems Baskin Invitational. His career best was recorded at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships where he had a mark of 7.75m (25-5.25).

Other Highlights:
Senior Desean White took 13th in the 100m dash with an IC4A qualifying time of 10.48.

Sophomore Vikarie Elliott threw a 15.15m ((49-08.50) to place 13th in the shot put.

The men's 4x100 team of (Kevin Leach, Keon Rantin, Shindell Henry,Desean White) recorded their fastest time of the season with an IC4A qualifying time of 41.25.

The men's 4x200 team of (Kevin Leach, Keon Rantin, Shindell Henry, Ilkeem Ellis) took 11th in the event with a time of 1.26.13.

Up next, Morgan State will compete at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia from April 6-7.
