BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Morgan State men's track and field program posted eight individual top 10 performances and finished in ninth place with 45 points at the 2017 Towson Invitational on Saturday inside Johnny Unitas® Stadium. 
 
California (Pa.) recorded 102 points to finish first in the 16-team field. Buffalo State followed in second (86) while Coppin State placed third (76).

Freshman thrower Vikarie Elliott led the Bears in the field events. The Jamaican product finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 44.16m, and followed it up with a personal best 45.71m to place third in the hammer. 
 
Morgan State senior Leneir Tucker posted a sixth place finish in the 1500-meter run by crossing the finish line with a time of 4:22.35.
 
Fernandes Boyd recorded a pair of personal best marks. The junior posted a 49.78 to place seventh in the 400-meter dash, and had a 10^th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a 22.56.
 
Senior Wilfred Asamoah took runner-up honors in the 110-meter hurdles (15.24), finishing just .17 seconds behind Coppin State's Kymere Pritchett for the title. Asamoah also posted a sixth place finish (55.93) in the 400-meter hurdles, while freshman teammate Braxton Hammock placed second with a time of 55.93.
 
The Bears' 4x400m relay team of Fernandes Boyd, Jonathan Johnson, Braxton Hammock and Lenier Tucker placed seventh with a time of 3:28.15.
