NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Morgan State men's track & field team had a strong performance at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday at the Coxe Cage.

The Bears took the top three spots in the 60-meter dash with IC4A qualifying times. Senior Deyvon Howell won the event with a personal best time of 6.85, followed by freshman Keon Rantin in second with a time of 6.85. Senior Desean White placed third with a time of 6.88.
 
White also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.34. Senior Shindell Henry placed eighth with a 50.64, followed by freshman Burnell Pulley and Kobe-Jordan Rhooms finishing ninth (50.84) and 10^th place (50.95), respectively.
 
Howell led a trio of Bears that placed 1-2-4 in the 200-meter dash. Howell clocked in with an time of 21.72, while Rantin finished runner-up with a time of 21.75. Freshman Ilkeem Ellis placed fourth with a time of 22.80.
 
The Bears relay team of Ilkeem Ellis, Keon Rantin, Kobe-Jordan Rhooms and Deyvon Howell won the 4x400 meter with an IC4A qualifying time of 3:16.73. MSU's 'B' team placed eighth with a time of 3:30.40.
 
Freshman Daenah Pressley placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.99 meters.
 
Sophomore Kurt Goodlitt was edged out for first place by Sacred Heart thrower Michael Kearns. Kearns won the event with a toss of 15.92 meters, while Goodlitt posted a mark of 15.55 meters. Sophomore Vikarie Elliott threw a 14.70 to place 6^th.
 
The Bears return to action after the New Year when they travel to compete in the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason on Saturday, January 6th.
