The 28th annual Baltimore Metro cross country meet takes place this Friday at Oregon Ridge Park.
BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 2, 2010)-The Morgan State men's and women's cross country teams open up the 2010 season this Friday afternoon for the 28th running of the Baltimore Metro Cross Country Meet, held at Towson's home course, Oregon Ridge Park.
In addition to Morgan State and host, Towson, the field will include Johns Hopkins, Coppin State, Goucher, Stevenson, McDaniel and Essex Community College.
The men's race is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., followed by the women at 4:45 p.m. Both races will be 5K's.
Johns Hopkins has won the last two women's titles, while the Blue Jays men's team also captured the title last year.
Last season the Lady Bears placed seventh and the men made history last season, finishing second at the meet and having two former runners, Justus David and Daniel Kipkorir place first and second, respectively. The second-place finish was the program's highest finish ever in the Baltimore Metro Meet.
