BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan State's Kevin Thompson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Delaware State's Marques Oliver was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week, while Norfolk State's Kyle O'Quinn was selected Defensive Player of the Week.
Thompson (F, 6-8, 235, So., Baltimore, Md.) recorded a pair of double-double performances as he led the Bears to a 2-0 mark in conference play. He shot 7-of-11 from the field with 21 points and 10 rebounds against the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks. The win clinched the Bears third consecutive regular-season title. He also scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in an 88-87 double-overtime win against Norfolk State. He shot 9-of-13 from the field against the Spartans, registered three blocked shots and dished out two assists.
Thompson, a former Walbrook HS standout, currently ranks nationally No. 4 in rebounding (11.7) and is the Bears' seconding leading scorer by averaging 12.8 points per game. He has been selected twice as the MEAC Player of the Week and seven times as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Morgan State (22-9, 13-1), the 2009-10 MEAC regular season champions, will face North Carolina A&T tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. at Hill Field House in Baltimore (Md.). The game will mark the 76th match-up between the teams. The Rams lead the series 46-29. The Bears have won four of the last five meetings, including the last three meetings.

Michael Deloach (NSU)averaged 27.0 points, 4.5 assists, 4.5 steals, 4.5 rebounds to help NSU to a 1-1 week.
Michael Harper (CSU)scored 30 points, hitting 10-of-14 baskets from the field, including four of seven from long range, with three rebounds and three steals in a win over North Carolina A&T.
Ceslovas Kucinskas (CSU)recorded a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds in a win over North Carolina A&T.
