NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 30, 2010)-The Lady Bears’ Tanisha Kendrick had a successful outing during Saturday’s NYRR Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center.
The junior native of Tucson, Ariz., placed second in the 400 meter dash in a time of 56.32.
Fellow senior, Allison Randall also had a productive meet, placing second and fourth in the weight throw and the shot put, respectively. Randall threw for 17.15m in the weight throw and had a toss of 13.51m in the shot put.
On the men’s side, Morgan State senior Tyron Benjamin set a new school and personal record, while also setting the Dominica national record in the shot put on Saturday at the NYRR Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center.
Benjamin, who currently ranks 10th in the shot put, won the event with a toss of 18.64 meters (60-feet-5 inches). Benjamin is coming off of a week where he won the same event in the same venue a week ago and earned MEAC athlete of the week honors.
He returns to action next Friday (Feb. 5) night to compete in the same arena to take part in the New Balance Invitational.
As a team the men’s track and field team finished in 10th place with 13 points, while the Lady Bears finished seventh with a total of 21 points.
