Morgan State Women’s Basketball Announces the Signing of Three Newcomers

BALTIMORE, Md. (June 29, 2009)-Morgan State University women's basketball head coach Donald Beasley and his staff are pleased to announce the signing of three newcomers to the Lady Bears' program for the upcoming 2009-10 season.

 

Joining the Morgan State women's basketball family, are guards Brittany Noel (St. Louis, Mo./Moberly Area CC), Georgian William (Bronx, N.Y./Chipola CC) and Tevonia Williams (Maxton, N.C./Western Oklahoma State CC).

 

Last season Morgan State finished 17-13, including a 9-7 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, good for a fourth-place tie with Maryland Eastern Shore. The Lady Bears, who led the league in three-pointers made (182) at an average of 6.1 per contest, were led by guards Corin Adams (18.2 ppg) and Erin Hawkins (11.2 points).

 

Adams, an All-MEAC first team selection, led the MEAC in three-pointers made (71), and minutes played (36.8) and was second in the conference in scoring, and steals per game (3.5), while Hawkins ranked 14th in scoring and third in three-pointers made with 58.

 

2009-10 Women's Basktball Signees

 

Brittany Noel

6-0, Junior

St. Louis, Mo. (Moberly Area Community College)

Started in all 27 games played, averaging 9.1 points per game and 3.26 rebounds for the Greyhounds, who finished 20-7 on the season…Led the team in free throw percentage at 81.5 % (53-of-65) and finished second in three-pointers made (18) and tied for second in assists with 66.

 

Georgian Williams

6-0, Sophomore

Bronx, N.Y. (Chipola College)

Helped the Lady Indians to 24-5 record last season…Went 1-for-1 from three-point range, finishing with three points in Chipola's 68-67 win over Gulf Coast in the FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII championship.

 

Tevonia Williams

6-0, Junior

Maxton, N.C. (Western Oklahoma State College)

A strong insider, who offers a soft touch in the post…Is a workhorse on the block, who can utilize her body well to gain an advantage in the paint.
