Women's Story
COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 30, 2009)-The Morgan State men's track team officially opened up the 2009 outdoor season over the weekend at the USC Weems Baskin Invitational held at Weems Baskin Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina on Saturday. The Bears had six athletes place within the top of their events.
Morgan's Justus David Mulinge was the Bears' lone winner, as he claimed the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:01.88. David also came in ninth in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:02.49.
Nathan Mesta placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:05.79, while Tyron Benjamin also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 15.77. Benjamin also placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 50.38.
Andrew Simpson ran a time of 14.67 in the 110 meter hurdles and placed third, while Dakari Taylor-Watson took sixth with a time of 15.04. The men's 4X400 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 42.97.
Morgan State returns to the track next Saturday, April 4, when they travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take part in the Aggie Relays, hosted by North Carolina A&T.
