VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (March 18, 2009)-Morgan State sophomore bowler Keisheena Waldon was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) second-team, as voted by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
Maryland Eastern Shore’s Maria Rodriguez earned the 2009 MEAC Player of the Year award, while Adriana Jamie of Delaware State was named MEAC Rookie of the Year. Kim Terrell-Kearney of Delaware State was named MEAC Coach of the Year by her peers.
A native of Seat Pleasant, Md., Waldon currently ranked second on the Lady Bears team in total pins with 8,791 for an average of 187, heading into last week’s Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Waldon, who placed 10th out of 152 bowlers at the Kutztown Invitational (2/3), rolled a season-best high-game of 248 against Howard during a MEAC North Division match (11/8).
Joining Waldon on the second team, were Kristina Frahm (UMES), Kalyn Washburn (Delaware State), Martha Perez (UMES), Sheila-Marie Smith (Norfolk State) and Autumn Glencamp (S.C. State).
The All-MEAC first-team consisted of Kimberly Roe (Bethune-Cookman), Adriana Jamie and Angela Reynolds (Delaware State), Maria Rodriguez (UMES) and Jazmyne Hefflefinger (Delaware State).
The 2009 MEAC Bowling Championship begins on Friday, March 20 at the Gate City Lanes in Greensboro, N.C. with the qualifying round. Play continues on Saturday with teams competing in a best-of-seven Baker series. The championship concludes on Sunday, March 22 beginning with the semifinal round at 9:50 a.m. and concluding with the championship final at 11:45 a.m.
