COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Morgan State competitive cheer team finished in second place in the Terrapin Classic competition, hosted by Spirit Unlimited, at the Comcast Center Saturday afternoon.

The Collegiate Intermediate division was won by the Maryland All-Girl Squad, followed by Morgan State in second place and Stevenson in third place. Montgomery College performed as an exhibition team.

"The Cheer Bears performed well today," said MSU Coach Theresa Gibson. "We had a couple of unwanted bobbles, but the tumbling, dancing and motions were definitely on point."

"We need to clean up our stunting and spacing to really be where we want to be. But considering how young this team is, and the amount of injured missing from the competition floor, I feel they are still performing competitively with the larger teams."

In the Terps' Collegiate Advanced division, Maryland captured first place while Fairmont State finished in second place, with the Maryland Co-Ed Spirit Squad and Virginia Tech All-Girl teams finishing third and fourth, respectively.  Fairmont State won the Judges' Choice Award.
