The Lady Bears finished fourth at the 2009 MEAC Indoor Championships.
LANDOVER, Md. (February 16, 2009)—The Morgan State Lady Bears finished fourth over the weekend with 61 points at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Center. Morgan State, which placed fourth for the second straight year, had three individuals earn All-MEAC honors and a relay team that also earned All-MEAC honors, following Saturday's finale.
Hampton (148 points), who shared last year's 2008 title with Maryland Eastern Shore, captured the title, while Norfolk State (107 points) took second and 2008 MEAC Co-Champs Maryland Eastern Shore, claimed third with 88 points. Howard (42 points) rounded out the top five.
On the final day of competition, RoKesha Williams placed seventh in the pentathlon with 3218 points, while Keva Ramsey finished 12th with 2883 points. The Lady Bears scored eight points in the 400 meter dash behind Tanisha Kendrick and Jamia Robinson. Kendrick, who just missed out on All-MEAC third team honors, finished fourth in a time of 56.04, while Robinson took sixth in a time of 56.88.
Ashley Hines finished with a time of 25.33 to take seventh in the 200 meter dash, while Shalee Richardson came in sixth in the pole vault with a height of 7-03.00.
The Lady Bears' 4X400 meter relay team of Robinson, Vivian McCollum, Quawnecia Johnson and Kendrick, ended the day in second with a time of 3:47.14, behind Hampton, who ran a time of 3:46.08.
Morgan State returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 21, when it travels to Kent, Ohio to compete at the Kent State Tune-Up Meet.
