Benjamin Breaks School Record in Weight Throw at Navy Invitational
Tyron Benjamin, who placed third and set the school record in the weight throw, also captured the shot put title at the Navy Invitational.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Dec. 5, 2009)-The Morgan State men’s indoor track team opened the season competing at the Navy Invitational Meet, hosted by the Naval Academy on Saturday.
Senior Tyron Benjamin captured the shot put title with a throw of 57-08.25m, while also breaking a school record in the weight throw (51-04.25m) to place third.
Freshman Mikel McClain placed second for the Bears in the shot put, while Kevin Bowen placed second in the 400 meter dash in a time of 48.07. Junior Issac Richardson placed in the top 10 in the 800 meter run with an eighth-place finish in a time of 1:56.25.
Morgan’s 4x400 meter relay team of Jordan Higgs, Carbinere Whyte, Jude Obiarinze and Bowen ran a time of 3:18.72 to finish fifth.
