Lady Bears Place 6th; McCollum Earns All-MEAC Honors

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Oct 25, 2008)-#McCollum# ran a personal-best time of 19:10.31 to place 15th overall at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) cross country championships on Saturday morning, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). McCollum's finished earned her a spot on the All-MEAC Team and helped the Lady Bears to a sixth-place finish with a total of 151 points.

 

Morgan State's Shalee Richardson (20:06.49) and Adriana Vargas-Marshall (20:12.79) placed 30th and 32nd, respectively. Tanisha Kendrick placed 36th with a time of 20:27.26 and Trisha LaForce came in 38th with a time of 20:29.22 to round out the top 40.

 

The host Lady Hawks of UMES defended their 2007 title, coming in first with a total of 55 points. Norfolk State finished second with 73 points, while Hampton scored 108 points and placed third. Howard (120) and Coppin State (123) rounded out the top five.

 

Naomi Tanui of Coppin State claimed the individual title with a time of 17:35.35.
