MSU Lacrosse Featured On ESPN

The Morgan State lacrosse program will be getting worldwide attention this weekend on ESPN. The "Worldwide leader in sports" paid a visit to MSU to put together an extended feature looking at Morgan State lacrosse.

ESPN will air a feature on the legacy of Morgan State lacrosse on the nationally renown SportsCenter program on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

ESPN recently sent reporter Jeramy Schaap and a technical crew to the MSU campus to document the storied history of lacrosse at Morgan.  Mr. Schaap talked to former MSU lacrosse Coach Chip Silverman, former MSU lacrosse standout Miles Harrison, and others associated with Morgan lacrosse when it was at its apex.

Silverman and Miles are the co-authors of "Ten Bears", an urban chronicle of America's first black collegiate lacrosse team.

However, the ESPN feature goes far beyond MSU's grand lacrosse tradition. ESPN also takes a look at what was happening on campus and across America as it relates to race relations, and other cultural issues of the day.

ESPN is looking to air the feature during or just after the 11:00p.m. edition of SportsCenter on Sunday, February 27, 2005.  The feature will re-air on Monday, February 28, 2005 during the morning rebroadcast of SportsCenter.
