Kevin McClain enters his second year with the the Bears’ as a veteran assistant coach on Todd Bozeman’s staff.

McClain’s duties with the Bears include game and practice preparation, recruiting, and assisting in all basketball matters.

McClain, 39, most recently served as an assistant coach at Manhattan College before coming to Morgan State.

While working at Manhattan, the Jaspers recorded wins against Florida in the 2004
NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and an 87-84 win at Maryland in 2006.

Prior to Manhattan College, he spent eight years as an assistant coach at Casper
College in Casper, WY. McClain became the top assistant for the Thunderbirds after his second season, and his responsibilities covered all aspects of the program.

McClain began his coaching career in the Baltimore City Parks and Recreation League, where he coached youth teams in all sports in the 9-17 year old age groups. Among those he coached were Manhattan Jasper Kenny Minor and Carmelo Anthony, former Syracuse star and current member of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets. McClain played high school basketball at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, and received his degrees in sports management and sports coaching from University of America in 2003.
